I appreciate your concern, and certain medications can be linked as a side effect causing gynecomastia. Your first step should be in-depth discussion with your physician who is prescribing these medications and review of possible causes of gynecomastia. If these medications cannot be stopped for medical reasons, then surgical treatment certainly can be an option. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area after speaking with your medical doctor. Good luck.
There are some medications are are thought to contribute to gynecomastia, but it is impossible to know if those medications are responsible for gynecomastia, but once gynecomastia presents, it is almost always a surgical issue. It is important not to resume the same medications in order to maintain results.
It is unlikely your gynecomastia will go away. however, if you don't need these meds, then you should wean yourself off of them, under medical supervision. If you do need them, then you need to discuss this with your physician. All medications have risks. Too many patients are on medication they probably no longer need. However, too few physicians re-evaluate when to stop medications. Most medication should be stopped gradually, rather than suddenly. This is all best discussed between you and your primary care physician.david berman md
