I had Juvederm injected under my eyes 4+ weeks ago. I also had IPL and Fraxel done to tighten the skin. I have developed malar edema and severe redness. I returned to the doctor 5 days ago and she injected a small amount of "white ace". The swelling went away for one day. The next morning the swelling was back. The redness has never gone away and seems to be getting worse. My doctor is now refusing to inject anymore white ace and says it is just swelling and nothing but time can correct.
Answer: Juvederm Juvederm can be tricky to inject under the eyes. The skin under the eyes is very thin and Juvederm tends to attract water over time which can cause some swelling like you are experiencing. Injection with Hyaluronidase can help with the swelling in the area. However, the increasing tenderness and redness can be signs of an infection. I would consult with your doctor again for a thorough examination and treatment.

Answer: Can malar edema and redness be corrected if I have the JVD under my eyes dissolved? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and I am sorry to hear of your swelling issues. Because Juvederm is a water-attracting filler, it can predispose some patients to swelling, especially in the thinner skin of the undereye area. Appropriate use of hyaluronidase to dissolve the product should improve the swelling as well as the darkness which appears to be bruising. I would revisit your injector and ask for additional treatment. Hope this helps.

Answer: Severe Swelling after Injections I would consult a board certified dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic injections to evaluate you in person. You may need more Vitrase, Prednisone, and Benadryl to help your situation. I can't tell from the photos if there is still product left under the eyes or a reaction to the product. Under eye injections are a very difficult injection and is an advanced technique. Restylane and Belotero are much better than Juvederm for this under eye area. Best, Dr. Green

Answer: Filler swelling Thankyou for your question.Malar swelling always require more than one treatment to dissolve the filler. Its a stubborn area.Your injector needs to treat again. If he/she doesn't want to do this go elsewhere.FYI we always suggest that any laser treatment should be at least one month before or after filler.Good luck
