Strange smell after Rhinoplasty - what could this be?

I have a strange smell on left side of nose. It’s been a little over a year now since I have had surgery. The smell is always there everyday. It smells like wet dog or musty water. It has a slight leak as well. What can this be?

Malodor or strange smell coming from your nostril is a sign of possible infection. I would see your surgeon as soon as possible to make sure it's not an infection that's causing the smell!

Hello and thanks for your question. It is very hard to say anything unless to the in-person consultation but it most likely you have a unhealed wound inside of your nose. You should contact with your surgeon and have the follow-up check up.

Endonasal examination is required to determine its source and provide treatment.
