As always you would want medical clearance prior to your surgery. It would be a good idea to hydrate especially well prior to your surgery. It should not be a problem as long as you are hydrated.
As long as you're cleared by your medical doctor and/or your urologist it's probably okay to proceed with your tummy tuck. However, you might need to take some extra precautions (like good hydration or extra medications) before any cosmetic surgery procedure. Good luck!
Hi dh1234 There is no reason that you cannot proceed with your tummy tuck if you have kidney stones. Your anaesthetist (anesthesiologist) will want to ensure that you get plenty of fluids during your procedure, and may request a urinary catheter to monitor how your kidneys are going during the operation. The only other consideration will be to make sure that any of your post-operative pain is not from the kidney stones and misdiagnosed because people are focussing on your recent procedure. Good Luck Dr Gavin Sandercoe
If you have a medical condition this certainly can causes complications after surgery. You will need to get medical clearance from your medical physican and urologist prior to considering a major operation such as an abdominoplasty. If all of your physicians are in agreement then the the surgery should be able to be performed safely. I do not know of any direct contraindications for a patient with kidney stones.
You want to make sure that you are medically cleared by your primary care physician and if need be, your Urologist who takes care of your kidney stones. They will help guide you through the process. I do not see any reason why you can not have the surgery but it needs to be coordinated by your team of doctors.
I would recommend having any medical issues resolved before undergoing an elective cosmetic procedure like tummy tuck, and that would include kidney stones. While the condition may be quiescent right now, what if you were to become slightly dehydrated, which sometimes happens following tummy tuck, and the stones worsened? Or if you started to pass a stone following tummy tuck and had intense nausea and vomiting, which often accompanies the passage of a stone together with nearly unbearable pain? I would not tempt fate on an elective case; see your urologist if you are really interested in a tummy tuck and have definitive treatment for your stones first.
Hello and thanks for your question. It should be safe. You should speak to your Urologist as he/she would know the specific type of stone and if there are specific reasons not to proceed with the Abdominoplasty ( tummy tuck). Good Luck
It may be safe, but you will need clearance from your urologist first. It depends on the type of stones, etc. Good luck, Dr. S
It is best to have medical issues resolved prior to elective surgery. Most likely, your surgeon will require a medical clearance letter from your urologist prior to surgery. Also, your surgeon and anesthesia will require labs and possible other medical test before your surgery. Best wishes for a fast recovery!
If you have any illness, you must first be cleared by your doctor before liposuction. In general, the kidney stones should be cared for first. There are many types of stones, and if yours are not a problem. and you are otherwise healthy, then liposuction likely is fine. First things first however and illness treatment always out weighs liposuction or any other elective procedure. My Best, Dr C
It can take up to a month for all the scabs to fall off. Generally I tell my patients here in Miami that it will be at least one full month until they are "beach ready." best, M
The first thing to do is not despair; as I tell my own patients when this happens, seromas are a "drag" or a nuisance more than anything, but they very rarely if ever are cause for alarm. Basically it is a small collection of fluid that forms under the skin after operations like tummy...
I would recommend waiting 3-4 months to allow all of the swelling to resolve before making any final judgements about your shape. Then, you can see if you need any revisions.
