I want to maximize the chances of fat survival after a fat transfer to the buttocks. Would sitting on a plane the day after the procedure decrease the odds? If I get a hotel, how long should I plan to stay for maximum results? Would it be best just to find someone local and take public transportation home? Would any of this matter if the fat transfer was to the legs? Trying to choose the right doctor, but picking local often restricts your selection pool. Thank you!
Answer: Will traveling for fat transfer to buttocks [BBL] and/or legs decrease the odds of fat survival? I appreciate your question.I would not recommend that you sit on the treated area after a Brazilian butt lift. I have my patients avoid putting direct pressure on the treated area by sitting on a pillow. It's important to avoid or minimize sitting after the procedure to not disrupt the new blood supply that's being established into the grafted tissue. This process is called neovascularization and happens between the second and third day and continues for several weeks after that. Excessive pressure or excessive movement are the most damaging between the third and 10th day. I would not recommend you fly out of state for surgery. You can find many talented plastic surgeons in both Northern and Southern California. It's important that your surgeon be close to manage your post operative care. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. Best of luck! Answer: Will traveling for fat transfer to buttocks [BBL] and/or legs decrease the odds of fat survival? Thank you for your question. I would say that it would be advisable not to sit on the treated area postop. The more important question is why are you considering having a procedure done that you have to fly to have? A BBL can be safely done by many board certified plastic surgeons and I would advise against traveling on a plane to see someone to have surgery. You should have surgery with someone in your area who can guide you through the pre-op and post-op course and be available to see you when you have questions and issues post-op. The link I have provided is from the ASPS website and shows board certified plastic surgeons in your area who provide buttock augmentation procedures. If the local doctors you have looked at are not on this list.....you need to go back to the drawing board and this would be a good place to start. Good luck and most importantly.....stay safe!

Answer: Will traveling for fat transfer to buttocks [BBL] and/or legs decrease the odds of fat survival? Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. When choosing a plastic surgeon, the most important thing to consider is that he or she is board certified, the experience with the procedure you are interested in and that you feel comfortable in his/her hands. In the Dominican Republic, we have excellent doctors, great professionals, and most importantly, board certified plastic surgeons, that you can choose from. I recommend my patients to wait at least 10 days before flying back home. I suggest you book a consultation to discuss the best options for your goals. Good luck :)
