Lumenis recently introduced SCAAR FX, a mode for its UltraPulse fractional CO2 laser which allows treatment up to a depth of 4 mm, double that of DeepFX mode. How is this going to affect the treatment of atrophic acne scars on the face? Is it going to substantially improve the results achievable with DeepFX or totalfx?

I think your on the right track using the hydrocodone cream. It may be helpful actually to go on a skin care regimen with a line such as Obagi. This will help to not only maintain her result but help with the hyperpigmentation. The Retin-A will help to get the hydrocodone a little deeper so...
We perform all total face laser resurfacing with Total FX under IV sedation, as it is much more comfortable for our patients. If we are doing eyelids or around the mouth, we routinely use local anesthesia.
