I've had veneers on my top six teeth for almost 10 years and they are in great shape however I was never 100% happy with the result, they are too round, thick and long. I got them to fix some discoloration due to a calcified tooth and a root canal. Wondering if I should attempt getting them re-done or if its possible to do any reshaping to reduce the roundness and thickness, especially the canine teeth, which look too large. I also would like more variation in the length.

There is always the chance that a veneer can come off, but certain factors can make that highly unlikely. If the prep is cut well by an experienced dentist, the veneer is of great quality, the proper cement is used, and the bite is properly aligned, then your particular veneer should last...
The best treatment is to remake the veneers. Bonding composite on after the porcelain is shaved down will not last very long at all, so when these get remade, have a diagnostic wax up created. This allows the lab to design the case and let you see it before you start. Not all labs...
It could be that the veneers used were too thin. You may benefit from having the teeth prepped more and re-veneered. Veneers should not crack under normal conditions. Good luck and I hope this helps. Follow me if you have more questions.Sarah Thompson, DMDSt. Louis, MO area...
