For most of my patients, I tell them that at 6 weeks there is still a great deal of swelling in the abdomen, sides, and back (or wherever the liposuction was performed); and they will only look better in 6 months. About 50% of the fat that is transferred lives and becomes a part of you. This will hold stable as long as there is no weight fluctuation.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Typically for my patients, I don’t have them sit for two weeks. I then have them sit on a “donut” (soft roundpillow) for another month or so. It is best to try not to place pressure on therecipient area to try to get as much fat to survive as possible. For bruising,it usually subsides after about two weeks, but the swelling lasts longer. Thisshould be discussed in detail at the time of your consultation with a PlasticSurgeon.
Thank you for your question. After a BBL, it will often take up to 6 months before you reach your final results. If your surgeon told you that only 30% of the fat will resorb, I think they are being extremely optimistic. I would not expect a 70% take if I were you. Follow the instructions of your surgeon and hope for the best, but this procedure can be unpredictable. Best of luck!
It takes 3 to 6 months to see final results after a BBL surgery. Final results from the areas of liposuction are seen at 6-9 months.
Thank you for your question. You can see final results for a BBL in about 6 months to 1 year. It takes about 2-3 months for most of the swelling to go away and for that fat that's going to survive, to survive. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.
Dear Mkhamkeuanekeo, the most of the patients will lose up to 30 % of transferred fat after a BBL. It usually occurs within the first few months (2-3 months), but it can take up to a half a year to see the final results.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
The full results for a BBL are usually seen after about 6 months. Up to 50% of the fat that is injected into the buttocks may not survive, so most surgeons do overfill as much as possible during the procedure. Staying off the area as much as you can after your surgery will definitely better your chances of fat cells developing a good blood supply and surviving. Good luck with your BBL!
Thank you for the question. In general, final results are achieved 3-6 months after surgery. Good luck!
Best BBL results are obtained with a comprehensive liposuction using VASER and maximized graft take using Puregraft transfer; the 30% reduction is not from loss of fat but loss of swelling that occurs that is completed by 3 months.
In most cases, the post operative swelling and fat resorption, that is noted following BBL procedures, will subside in 6 months. However, most of the reduction in size will occur in the first 2 to 3 months. Be certain to follow your surgeon's instructions to insure the quickest recovery with the least amount of fat resorption. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
Hi and thanks for the question. I have my patients wait 6 weeks but this question is specific to your doctor. Keep in mind that you shouldn't put prolonged pressure on your buttocks even in the tub. Best of Luck - Dr Hardy...
This is a very important topic in plastic surgery. Deaths due to bbl are typically due to surgical technique and have less to do with the facility that you are having the surgery in. you should choose a bbl surgeon who has performed thousands of these operations and who has had no deaths. Deat...
