Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. Depressed scars can be improved with vascular lasers like Yellow laser, BBL, or Excel V when they are red --- and with CO2 spot treatments, fillers, microneedling with PRP, and subcision to help with texture and blending. If the scar is tethered to deeper tissue, a surgeon could attempt to release the tethering using a needle and fat graft the area. If there is no tethering, you could simply try a small amount of fat grafting or filler to the area.
