Question

I am planning to have a Gastric sleeve in about 6 months but afterwards I will have saggy extra skin on my arms, thighs and my abdomen after I lose a significant amount of weight. What’s the next step to tighten (or get rid of) that extra flabby skin?? Current weight 238, hope to be about 180 by 6 month post op appt which my Bariatric surgeon says is a reasonable goal. He thinks I will lose some weight prior to surgery as well. Your thoughts?

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

In truth, non-surgical options give only mild improvement compared to surgical lifting. Following bariatric surgery, individuals will lose weight and inches in an unpredictable fashion. If your skin has retained its elasticity (stretch marks suggest otherwise), some areas may shape up without requiring skin tightening. Other areas may not be so fortunate. Depending upon the areas of skin redundancy, a surgical plan for total body lift can be formulated. It may include breast lift (and possible augmentation), arm lift, abdominoplasty / beltectomy, thigh lift (inner and outer), bra roll excisions, face / neck lift, etc.
After your weight has stabilized after your bariatric procedure (may take a year or so), you would be considered a candidate for body lift.
Seek a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon following your weight loss.
