I had liposuction about 4 years ago. After surgery i noticed a hard lump near the top of my belly button. It hasnt gone away and I am concious of it. I dont know if it is fibrosis or a leftover fat pocket or loose skin. I cant revisit the surgeon. I am considering laser lipo just for this area. Please any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
Answer: Laser liposuction Scar tissue (fibrosis) can form after liposuction, and it might feel firm or lumpy. This is a common part of the healing process. It’s possible that there is residual fat in the area. If not all the targeted fat cells were removed during the initial liposuction, a lump might remain. Depending on the elasticity of your skin, there could be an element of loose skin contributing to the appearance of the lump. Considering that you can’t revisit the original surgeon, it’s advisable to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon or dermatologist. They can assess the lump, possibly perform imaging studies if necessary, and provide a more accurate diagnosis. As for laser liposuction, it’s essential to discuss your specific case with a professional. Laser liposuction may help address certain issues, but the suitability of the procedure depends on the nature of the lump and your overall health.

Answer: Liposuction results To make an accurate assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we generally need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have a complete set of before and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Your surgeon is also the person you should follow up with regarding the outcome of your procedure. If you didn’t get the results, you’re helping From on the first procedure, it was either that the procedure was done well or you may not have been an ideal candidate for Liposuction in the first place. Revision Liposuction is many times more difficult and complex than primary procedures. Correcting this with more . Liposuction may be difficult. To find the best provider I suggest the following. To find the best provider, I suggest patient schedule multiple in person consultations with experienced plastic surgeons in their community. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body or facial characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. An experienced provider should in fact have hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures to choose from for commonly performed procedures. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of a provider’s career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results will look like in the hands of each provider. There is no correct number of consultations needed to find the best provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. Take careful notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. It’s not a bad idea to bring pictures of your own body/face to use as reference when reviewing before and after pictures. The biggest mistake patients make is scheduling only one consultation without properly vetting or comparing providers before scheduling surgery. I Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
