What makes a good candidate for lip fillers?

A good candidate for a lip filler is someone who wants fuller lips and since you are 17 you will need  your parents consent to have the filler done.

Thanks for your question. In short because you are a minor obviously you will require your parents permission for any treatment. That being said, a good candidate for lip injections, is someone who wants fuller lips, but also has reasonable expectations and understanding of the treatment. There are also some medical concerns such as history of cold sores, etc. . As long as you fulfill those requirements I would think that most professional providers will entertain your request. In my opinion HA fillers are the only reasonable product for lips, especially given your age. Permanent lip fillers(collagen, silicone, etc)  have a host of negative consequences that may  sometimes not appear until many years down the road.  Hope this helps. 

Of course, at 17, you do need to have your parents with you.  Lip fillers are to augment the lip and make it appear fuller.  If you have small lips; no contraindications; parental consent; understand the procedure...you should be a good candidate.

Generally we wait until age 18 for fillers etc.    You may be a good candidate for lip enhancement and it may be okay to do the  lip filler if your pediatrician agrees.    We take big noses down at age 15 so lip build up can be considered at age 17.  My Best,  Dr C
