Excess skin on the side of the eye, could revision indicated make it worse? (Photos)

Question

A botched surgery left me with saggy skin on the outer part of the eye, and bad scars. Now a doctor wants to perform a revision as indicated on the picture but I am afraid I could get worse. What do you think?

It is impossible to evaluate your result without preoperative photos to compare. Seeing another board certified plastic or Oculoplastic surgeon for second opinion consult would be reasonable. Hope this helps.

The markings on the picture incorporate brow tissue into an eyelid incision. This will create a different set of problems. The scaring on the eyelid and the brow need to be addressed separately. You need to see an eyelid specialist.

If your previous surgery was a blepharoplasty, I don't understand dimpling in the sub brow area unless the skin was raised and the area defatted. This would not be a typical maneuver. It is a very radical excision of skin planned and will result in asymmetry if only done one sided.

What I am going to tell you is that the likelihood that the surgeon who have found can revise you and improve this is low. I am concerned that you will be make much worse by this well meaning individual. There are a lot of details that are missing from your case description. For example, how long has it been since your original surgery. One can not simply excise scar and skin here and expect a different outcome. I recommend profound caution here.

if your concern is that you have a dog ear at the end of your incision m, the revision you have marked may help. Unfortunately it will pull the lateral corner of your eyebrow down and therefore not raise your eyelids anymore. Either way this seems a reasonable result apart from the dog ear, which is a very common complication from this type of surgery. Hope that helps. Best wishes, Adam, Goodwin.

To give you a quality assessment and appropriate it would be helpful to know how long ago you had your primary procedure. It would be important to know exactly what your previous procedure or procedures were. We should also have access to proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before, and after pictures surgeon over the pictures they took.
Are you having the same surgeon do the revision work who did your primary procedure?
When in doubt, slow down and get second opinion consultations.
There are a lot of things to consider before moving forward. Revision work is more complex and often more difficult in primary procedures. Patients should be very careful about provider selection when it comes to having revision surgery.
I suggest you get complete copies of all before and after pictures and a copy of your previous operative report. Bring all of these when you have a second opinion consultations.
