My incision won't close all the way 3 wks post op. What is going on? Help (Photo)

In the absence of complications such as infection or implant exposure, this should heal without compromising the implant. The appropriate treatment is typically local wound care and close surveillance by your surgeon.

Breast augmentation incisions are routinely closed with multiple layers of suture (that are often all internal and do not require removal as they dissolve on their own). I would be sure to follow up with your surgeon to have them evaluate the healing of this incision as it should be closed at this point. Breast augmentation incisions are usually closed in layers. as long as the deeper layers are healing the skin will also eventually heal. I would confirm with your plastic surgeon and follow closely with them.

and at this point, your wound looks stable and that it will not progress and open up.  Most surgeons close in layers and if yours did, you should be fine and your wound will eventually heal completely.  You should be doing wound care with ointments and dressings until it is healed, as opposed to leaving it open to air but in the end, you should be following your surgeon's recommendations for wound care as it will heal in both scenarios.

As long as there is no clear fluid drainage from the incision it is likely that the wound will close.  However it is important that you be followed closely by our plastic surgeon with examinations in person. If you have  clear fluid drainage from the wound it could indicate impending exposure of the implant.
