Is it normal after Rhinoplasty to have an indent on the bridge of your nose? And if so about how long does this last? (photo)

I had Rhinoplasty 3 weeks ago today, June 8th. It was closed and i had the tip lifted and a slight bump shaved. I obviously still have swelling but i also have a very noticeable indent on the bridge of my nose im very concerned about. I dont see my surgeon for 3 more weeks for follow-up.

The indentation on your nose is definitely something you need to consult with your surgeon about... Avoid putting any pressure on your nose for awhile to avoid worsening of the indentation. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

It's possible that the dent is just an area of pressure from glasses. It may also be just an area of tether while the skin around it swells.  Both of those should just improve or resolve with time.  However it's also possible that the skin of the dent is either thinned a bit from surgery, or tethered to the underlying structure.  That might not resolve on it's own, so contact your surgeon to review the findings and put your mind at ease.

This is definitely not normal. As my colleagues have suggested you still have a lot of healing ahead of you. However, I would discuss with your surgeon at your earliest convenience just for your peace of mind. It's possible that this could be uneven swelling or it could represent a small "open roof." You probably should not have a visible indentation of the bridge of the nose three weeks after rhinoplasty, and make sure you are not placin any pressure over teh area with glasses. Let your sugeon have a look to guide you through healing.

You have to wait your healing time because after rhinoplasty swelling is changing the shape. You have to protect your nose to taking trauma , pressure (like glasses) and dont touch your nose if your surgeon doesnt recommend you first 6 weeks. After that you have to go control examination .

Thanks for your question. You are still very early in the healing process from Rhinoplasty so it is way to early to make any definitive statements regarding your results. That being said a noticeable indentation may either be from glasses or some differential edema; it may also be an irregularity from the surgery. It is best to contact your surgeon and simply let them know your concerns and ask for an earlier appt. In my experience your surgeon will want to be made aware of any concerns as soon as possible, sometimes it is possible to intervene earlier than later. Hope this helps.

You should contact your surgeon regarding the indent on the bridge of your nose.  Wearing glasses and sunglasses can cause this in the early days of healing.
