6 days post IPL treatment -- Is this normal? (photos)

Question

6 days post IPL treatment and this is what my chest looks like. Went back in to surgeon's office today, only to be seen by the original tech that performed the procedure. She did not seem concerned. Instructed me to use antibiotic ointment and come back in 3 weeks for check-up. These areas were oozing last night. I am keeping them clean and loaded with ointment. Is this actually considered a "burn"? And should I be doing anything else for the area? At this point I am concerned :-|

for stronger treatments especially off the face, this is normal and will start to peel. what is important is that you have the proper skin care at this point and continue to see your physician as it heals.  I find that fraxel treatments do better after the IPLs. Best, Dr. Emer.

Dark flaking areas after treatment is a normal reaction. It is always best to return to treatment provider for the most accurate opinion.

You need to see the doctor! NOT A TECH! Appears as 1st or superficial 2 degree burn effect from the IPL. I might recommend Silvadene..

By what I can see on your pictures you have a mild complication after IPL. There is evidence burn injury and scabbing. My recommendation would be to get a second opinion with a board certified Dermatologist of Facial Plastic Surgeon or go back to your IPL technician and respectfully ask to see the physician for evaluation of a complication. There are states were the physician has to see every patient before treatment and be available for complications. That should have been the thing that happened when you went to see them again and a complication identified.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz
