hello doctors I’m thankful for you for taking from you time and answering us My question is when I can wear my glasses after Rhinoplasty? I can not wear contacts because I have dry eyes and my doctor recommended that contacts are not safe for me And my Rhinoplasty is soon Thank you

How quickly you can wear your glasses again depends on what was done during your rhinoplasty, especially whether the nasal bones were moved.

Some surgeons allow very lightweight glasses to rest on the splint because the splint can help distribute pressure. Other surgeons prefer no pressure on the bridge at all, even with the splint in place, so this is one you should follow your surgeon's specific instructions on.

Once the splint comes off (often around a week), most patients need a workaround—contacts, taping glasses to the forehead, or a support device—until they're cleared to put weight on the bridge again. That clearance can be as early as a few weeks in simpler cases, but it's often 4 to 6+ weeks if there was significant bony work done.

If you feel tenderness or see indentations where the glasses sit, that's your cue to offload pressure and check in with your surgeon.

After rhinoplasty, a plastic splint is placed on the nose during the first week. During this time, patients can wear their glasses over the splint to read, watch something, or even drive.As you know, we remove the splint after one week. Following this, glasses should generally not touch the nose for about three weeks. During this period, for activities like driving, reading, or working, patients can still wear their glasses over the splint. Some patients use a small tape to attach their glasses to the forehead to avoid putting pressure on the nose.So, in general, our patients can start wearing lightweight glasses about 3–4 weeks after surgery.

This is the recommendation that we give to our patients. If you need to wear your glasses after your splint is removed, there are several options. You can ask your surgeon to give you an unused protective splint to put on your nose while you're wearing glasses, or you could consider purchasing devices for exactly this purpose, on Amazon.
