Do I need a Revision Rhinoplasty? Do I need ear cartilage for the revision? Possible to remove the splint after 1 week ? (Photo)

Hi Ms. Hope,Since your nose bothers you a revision rhinoplasty would likely be of benefit.  It appears that you have a so-called "parrot deformity" which is usually easily corrected.  It occurs because there is excess tissue in the lower third of your profile.  It is corrected by removing that excess tissue.  Ear cartilage is used for rhinoplasty grafts if grafts are needed and the patient does not have enough nasal septal cartilage.  Your nasal splint can be removed after 5 days.  Most importantly, take the time and effort to choose your revision rhinoplasty surgeon most carefully.  Good luck and be well.Dr. P

Yes is the simple answer. The nose should look Much Better than this after rhinoplasty. I need to see photos to give a proper answer. Make sure u see a VERY EXPERIENCED revision rhinoplasty surgeon. 

From the photo provided, it appears that you still have too much cartilage sticking out along your bridge just above the tip complex. This is a common finding that I see in my revision rhinoplasty practice. Based on this photo, it appears that you may require a revision procedure. You may or may not require additional cartilage grafts; I would be able to tell you better following a complete in person evaluation.

Hello,I am sorry that your result after rhinoplasty was not acceptable to you. The photo provided depicts a profile that is not ideal, I agree. However, without a thorough examination, the best possible option cannot be determined.  In general, ear cartilage is used for issues in the tip and for isolated side wall problems. If your bridge is determined to be too low (it doesn't appear that way), ear cartilage could potentially be used along with tissue called fascia taken from the temples to form an 'implant' of your own tissue to place on top of the bridge. Alternatively, if the bridge is ok, then attention should be turned to the tip complex.  These cartilages can have an effect on not only the tip, but also what's above and below the tip.  Ear cartilage may be used, but septal cartilage may be a better alternative.  Regardless, the splint is taken off at a week.Please see a few rhinoplasty experts who can show you similar results. Certification by the ABPS and membership with ASAPS are minimum qualifications.Best of luck!

of rhinoplasties and rhinoplasty revisions each year. Then look at the
plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a

It is hard to say but If I was a betting man It looks like the cartilage of your septum in the supra tip, the region just above the tip, needs to be taken down some more. I have seen many times some surgeons fail to take down the cartilage part of your septum near the tip enough. Being all that said I really can't tell you what is going on without a physical exam. It does not seem that cartilage grafts are in order, rather taking down the bump a little more is what you may need.

It is tough to comment without seeing full face views in different angles and looking at preop photos as well. Of course an exam in person is always best.

Nobody "needs" a revision rhinoplasty but the appearance of your nose can be improved. I cannot speculate what needs to be done without seeing additional pictures. Your lower profile does need to be reduced; a full profile view will help m determine if cartilage grafts are necessary.
