I'm a 16 y/o caucasian female. I've basically had this condition since birth, and it's only gotten worse over the past few years. I look more tired and saggy than I should. Looking in the mirror and seeing this all the time has created some bad self conscious issues and I'd like to find a solution. I'm done with having to put up with this day after day. I've considered blepharoplasty for years, and obviously since I'm on the younger side I don't know if I'd qualify as a good candidate.
Answer: Is getting an upper eyelid blepharoplasty at 16 too young? (Photo) Thank you for the question and photo. You have some excess skin of the upper eyelid however that does not necessarily mean that you need any surgical intervention. And I would certainly wait a few years prior to any surgical intervention. It is bet to have a consult with a board certified plastic or occuloplastic surgeon.Good luck.

Answer: Try Botox instead Hi, I agree that your eyelids are not as bad as you think. It is normal and looks aesthetic to have a fullness to the outer part of the upper eyelids. If you are really concerned I would err away from having surgery and try something noninvasive. Botox under the outer part of the eyelid can produce a subtle lifting of the eyebrow which will decrease some of the fullness that you are seeing and create a nicer eyebrow and eyelid aesthetic. Some eyebrow shaping can help this too.

Answer: Age and surgery Thank you for your question and photos.Based on your limited photos, I see brow ptosis (low and heavy brow) which pushes down on your upper eyelid. Try lifting the brows with your hands and see what you what your upper eyelid now looks like. You may need a upper lid blephroplasty in addition.Absolute age is a consideration but not absolute contraindication for Plastic Surgery.Obviously your parents or legal guardian would have to agree as well as your Plastic Surgeon. My, recommendation is to talk openly and frankly with your parents/legal guardian about your concerns and feelings. If they agree make a appointment with a Bd. Cert. Plastic Surgeon who ideally is a member of the Am. Soc. for Aesthestic Surgery (denoting by membership as having met additional criteria and a focus on Cosmetic Plastic Surgery). My best wishes,

Answer: Supratarsal fold It may be that your supra tarsal fold is very close to the eyelid margin, resulting in loss of anterior eyelid show. This occurs commonly in Asian eyelids. A procedure to correct the location of the fold can help correct this. Excess skin in usually not the problem in younger patients like yourself.

Answer: Blepharoplasty on Teenager Thank you for your question and photographs. Your eyelids do not look as bad as you feel they look. There is a little extra skin which should be observed for a few more years. You are too young for surgery, because as you say, your eyelids have been getting worse. If surgery is performed now, you may notice gradual changes until you stop growing. You are better off waiting unti you are an adult and your eyelids have stabilized. I hope this is helpful. Good luck.
