Last year I noticed that my right implant started poking out by my collar bone and sometimes it would change shape. Now it is happening on my left breast by armpit. My PS said it is either the Implant being ruptured or its my skin. So he wanted to put something in to cover the implants. Forgot the name. But why would my boobs be changing shape? Could my body be rejecting the implants. What should I do about it?
Answer: Ripples It is unlikely that your implants are ruptured. you have visible ripples or "knuckles" of your implants. This is seen most often with either saline or textured implants, and when implants are above the muscle. Sometimes capsular contracture can cause this but I doubt that is the case with you as you show a similar knuckle on your left where the breast looks looser.

Answer: Not a rejection... Thanks for your questions. These implants are too big for your body and have caused atrophy of your breasts. Now you can see rippling when the implant moves. You can rule out a rupture with an MRI, but I believe you will do better if you down size your implants! Good luck. Dr. Aldo

Answer: Implant Folds/Implant Knuckling Hello,Those points are the implants being folded upon themselves causing little firm peaks called knuckles. They are usually caused when an implant is confined into a smaller space or pushed into an irregularly shaped space due to capsular contracture. It is not rejection, which does not ever occur with implants. If your surgeon isn't an ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeon who specializes in revision breast surgery, you should get a second opinion from a few who are. Best of luck!

Answer: Change of shape Dear cmccafferty7,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Why are my #breastimplants sticking out and palpable? You appear to have a capsular contracture on one breast and some soft tissue descent on the other, with your native breast tissue bottoming out a bit. While large implants can contribute, I don't think the answer is as simple as "downsize your implants." You likely will need a capsulectomy on the right breast in order to create a clean pocket, and you may need capsular revision on the left. Fat transfer might help "shroud" the implant but revision of your lift could be more effective at repositioning your native breast tissue to provide additional coverage. Your surgeon might have been suggesting placing a dermal matrix material like Strattice or Galaflex to cover the device, but I don't usually find those helpful in this situation and the products are rather expensive. Maybe get some additional opinions from other board-certified plastic surgeons before moving forward with your revision surgery.
