Developed a 1.8cm popliteal cyst behind my left knee - Will Liposuction help alleviate my pain?

liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. However, if you lose weight your pain level will probably decrease. I suggest you to follow the instructions you got from the orthopedic surgeon.

You will not lose weight by having Liposuction. Even high-volume Liposuction in someone like yourself will end up with you regarding the weight weighing the same amount six months later.

Even though you currently may not have the discipline to lose weight it is possible and all people are capable of doing it.

How badly do you want to lose weight?

I suggest joining some local support groups like Weight Watchers or overeaters anonymous.

The Baker’s cyst is usually treated by orthopedic surgeons.

I don’t think Liposuction is an answer for any of your problems.

Hi and welcome to our forum!A popliteal cyst may express itself as a bulge and tight feeling behind the knee. It is not usually the source of severe pain. The pain may be due to your arthritis. Your BMI suggests that you are slightly overweight. Weight loss may be beneficial. Diet and exercise will often result in weight loss down to a normal BMI. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, but was designed as a reshaping procedure. Only 6 pounds or so can be removed. There are other weight loss modalities, some medical, some surgical, which can help you achieve a weight loss goal. Speak with your family physician.Will this improve your situation? One cannot say at this time. If you are still debilitated by your knee pain after weight loss, you should revisit your orthopedic surgeon for evaluation, examination, and discussion of your treatment options.Best wishes...
