Is it risky to have Body Contouring/Liposuction while on Humira?

I have performed liposuction on many patients currently taking immunosuppressants.  As long as you are in normal health and the preventative treatments are taken, you will do well.  Some advocate stopping the Humira for a few weeks before surgery and restarting a week after, I have never found this necessary.  Seek the advice of an experienced cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Emer.

This drug is compromise the immune system but I personally don't think it would be contraindicated for liposuction. Nevertheless this is a decision that will be made by your own surgeon.
