Is Juvederm Ultra Plus or Restylane Kysse softer in the lips?

Hello and thank you for your question. In general, Restylane Kysse is softer on the lips than Juvederm Ultra Plus. Also, it’s very common for your lips to feel hard for the first week or two with new fillers, so this is likely a problem you’ll run into with any lip filler. To minimize swelling, try icing your lips each day. I would recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon if you decide to maintain your fillers in the future.

Hard lips for 2 weeks after injection is your inflammatory response to the filler and that can vary depending on the filler used. RHA fillers tend to have less inflammatory reactions than others. Juvederm Ultra is somewhere in the middle in term of inflammation for most people, but it can vary by individual. It is probably best to go with the filler that achieves your lip filling goals and ask for a short course of prednisone to decrease side effects.

Restylane Kysse will give you a softer result than Juvederm Ultra Plus. The firm feeling you noticed is likely from swelling. This can occur with any of the fillers and typically resolves within two weeks. To keep swelling to a minimum you can use intermittent ice after the treatment. Also keeping your head elevated while sleeping for a few days and using Bromelain supplements may be helpful.

restylane kysse, juvederm vollure, and silk are all the softest. I would use daily hydration and plumping (see emeragecosmetics.com lip essentials kit).  everyone can do a little filler when done well really gives nice hydration and plumping.  Best, Dr. Emer.
