How to get rid of buccal fat removal remaining suture? Is it normal 3 weeks post op?

I had buccal fat removal October 8th (absorbable stitches). Stitches on my right side fell within the first week and feels like it healed but the left side still has a stitch and hurts if I sleep on it or if I try to open wide or if I chew anything on that side. Can't go to Dr that performed my surgery bc it was out of state. Spoke to surgeon and he said that it was just inflamed and to ice it and that it should come out sometime this week. Should I wait for it to fall on its own? Help!
