Thank you for your pictures and questions. The toxin did not cause wrinkles to move anywhere. What likely happened is that once animation was blunted in one area, it became more noticeable to you in an adjacent area. Alternatively, when you make certain facial expressions, areas where the toxin is not in place may work a little harder, causing more wrinkling in that area. Either way, I would just discuss your concerns with your injector and see if they are willing to offer a small touch up treatment to address your concerns. At least you will know next time what areas you have to treat to get a complete result.Hope this helps!Dallas R. Buchanan, MD, FACSOwner & Board-Certified Plastic SurgeonVIVIFY plastic surgery
This is a great question. It would be quite unusual for Botox and Dysport to be creating more wrinkles. The more likely culprit is that you’re noticing areas that haven’t been treated more prominently than before. While the lines around your forehead and eyes have softened, the wrinkles closer to your nose appear deeper. You might see the same effects after a laser treatment. The skin on your face looks smoother, which may highlight crepiness around the neck and chest. If you still feel like your skin seems more wrinkled 2 weeks after treatment, I’d recommend visiting a qualitified injector. A board-certified facial plastic surgeon can help find the appropriate treatment for your skin.
Hi, Thanks for your question! I agree that the wrinkles don't exactly "move," but they can become more prominent in untreated areas after treatment. Your provider may be able to adjust your treatment slightly to minimize this effect, so I would recommend letting him/her know. Also, over time the overall look may soften up, as the contrast between treated and untreated areas becomes less noticeable. Dysport is strongest initially, around 1-2 weeks. Hope that helps!
Sometimes when neurotoxins are injected into one muscle, another muscle in your face will compensate for the now underactive muscle. This can cause formation of new wrinkles that you may have never had before. Speak with your injector and they may add a few more units to the compensating muscle to even it out.
Thank you for your question. While it is not common for Dysport to cause the types of side effects you are describing, there is the chance that an injection performed incorrectly could cause vision issues. However, that is something best addressed by an ophthalmologist after an in-person...
I appreciate your question and your concern. While these treatments may not be approved by the FDA for use in patients over 65, that does not mean the procedures are not safe for that age group. It is more likely the clinical studies did not include patients over the age of 65. Physicians often...
Hi and thank you very much for your question. It is normal to feel tighter in the first few days following injection, that is because the neurotoxin is working hard to relax the muscles creating the wrinkles you're seeing. I recommend you wait 2 weeks from when you were injected and if you s...
