Hello, I had primary rhinoplasty a while back. As soon as the cast was removed, I had a weird dent on my left nostril. I'm looking for some knowledge on what this is and if it requires surgical correction.
Answer: Asymmetry of allar groove Removal of lateral lower cartilage, as it is done in most rhinoplasties, even if perfectly symmetric, may create some visible asymmetry of soft tissue (allar groove) like in your case. To correct that, I would probably start with filler; fillers in the nose may last longer than a year. Hope this helps.

Answer: Dents after rhinoplasty... The nose can always have little asymmetries before and/or after surgery. The best thing to start with after six months would be filler, so you can see how the area responds. If it responds well, a permanent change can be achieved with a silicone injection. Be sure to see an expert injector for consultation.

Answer: You appear to have a deeper supra-alar crease on your left compared to your right. Based on your photos, I believe the dent you're referring to is also present on the right side, however, it is certainly deeper on the left. If this asymmetry is bothering you, in our experience, microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections maybe considered for filling the indentation for improved nasal tip symmetry. I hope this is helpful! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty I see the dent you are referring to.. but looking at your before photos it was comparable before surgery. You could have filler out there and possibly a cartilage graft but I recommend it’s in it alone. Overall your result is good

Answer: Alar Crease Hello, hope you are well. I believe you are referring to the crease between the tip of your nose and the ala. It is present in both photos that are displayed. (Are these pre- and post- or both postop photos?) This is a deep alar crease which usually corresponds to excessive inward curvature of the lower lateral cartilage of the nose. (The same cartilage that forms the structure of the tip). It can be improved with rhinoplasty, but was either not addressed in primary surgery or the cartilage was weakened in such a way that the inward curvature was exacerbated. Best,Dr. Tower
