It can take up to two weeks for the initial dose of Botox to take effect. I would recommend waiting until this time before considering a touch up, as this will ensure the initial treatment is fully evident. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.
Most patients will see the full effect of Botox in 7-14 days, so it's usually best to wait >14 days to have a touch-up. This way additional Botox can be sprinkled in accurately without the delayed effects of the original treatment.
Re-injecting the area after a full two weeks would be okay, I suggest you schedule a follow-up consult with your provider
Botox for fine lines on the face begins to take effect a few days after treatment. The majority of the results are present at 7 days after, but the full effect can take 14 days. I encourage my patents to wait the full 2 weeks to add additional units because one side of the face may take effect faster than the other, with full effect at 2 weeks.
The average time for Botox to take effect is 7-14 days. I tell my patients to wait the full 14 days to be sure that the Botox has taken full effect and then consider a touch up.
Usually it takes 1-2 weeks for Botox to take full effect. It is always better to be conservative with the amount of units used in each area. Also, if this is the first time you are getting an injection from this provider it takes time for them to figure out how many units each area requires, everyone's muscles are just a little bit different. Before you get a touchup to your Botox injection, you want to make sure that what has already been injected is working completely. If you wait 10-14 days, then you can be pretty certain that the Botox is working. At this point, your doctor can evaluate you and help you decide if more Botox would be beneficial. I usually tell my patients to wait about 2 weeks before considering the result. Equally important, you shouldn't wait too long to go back for a touchup. If you wait too long, the Botox you already have will start to wear off while the newly injected Botox is still working. This will put the two doses out of sync reducing your result further! Speak with your doctor if you're not sure of the timing. Good luck!Parham Ganchi, PhD, MD - NJ Plastic Surgeon
Botox typically takes 10-14 days to reach its full effect; therefore, I recommend to my patients to wait at least 10-14 days after their original Botox injection for a touch up. I would recommend to schedule a follow-up appointment with your injecting physician to see if a touch-up is needed.Warm regards,Dr. Peterson
I prefer not to do any touch-ups for Botox until 10 days have passed because some patients truly take this long for all muscles to be fully effected, so treating beforehand could lead to issues. If you are 10 days out and still have movement you weren't expecting, I'd suggest a follow-up visit with your injector. In terms of the effectiveness of the Botox, and the results you will achieve, studies have not shown any difference when reconstituting with nonpreserved versus preserved sterile saline. The primary clinical difference is that preserved saline contains benzyl alcohol, which has some...
Dear beedee, Thank you for your question. Dimples are created from your facial animation muscles. Weakening your masseters may have weakened this in your case. Do not worry. This effect is temporary. Your dimples will appear when the botox wears off. I hope this helps.
Freezing the botox before the saline is added to it will most likely not decrease the effectiveness of the injections. Once the saline is added by your doctor it should not be kept frozen. There is no reason to believe this will reduce pain after the injections.
