Do I have to remove my belly ring for my BBL?

I am planning on my bbl to be soon. I just have a few questions and one of them is do I have to remove my belly ring or can I put a plastic one on? I have had it for years and I would hate to re do the whole process.

Thank you for your question! For my patients, having a bbl, I advise them to take out belly button rings. The belly button is typically used for an incision for part of the liposuction to the abdomen. I recommend discussing specific pre op questions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question.If you cannot take the ring out, most places will make you sign a waiver. This waiver states that they are not responsible if anything should happen because the ring was left in. It would be safer to put in a plastic ring, metal rings can cause burns if there is cauterization used during the surgery.

Always ask your surgeon about this, because he or she may have a different recommendation. If the dermal surface piercings are in an area that will be liposuctioned for the BBL, the piercings should be removed to lessen the probability of infection.  Your PS should be able to remove them.

In my opinion, yes. Take it out temporarily.Is should not be a big deal for your surgeon and their staff to deal with. When you are being prepped for surgery, the staff will be sure to want to make sure your belly button area (and every other area) operated on will be nice and clean. For my patients, I will usually remove belly button rings before the surgery and replace them after.Good luck and good health!
