I’ve had sinus surgery, full house polyp removal and septoplasty. I could smell for a few weeks right after the surgery, however 4-5 weeks later I have lost all smell. Is this normal? Will I have my smell back?

After sinus surgery, there may be odorous discharge due to nasal discharge and crusting for 4-6 weeks.To reduce this, it may be useful to wash the nose with plenty of ocean water spray, use cortisone nasal spray and use antibiotics for up to 3 weeks if necessary.

I would be evaluated by your sinus surgeon. While we don't expect you to be fully healed, you should start feeling pretty good any 2-4 weeks. If you have a bad smell, perhaps you have an infected nasal crust that needs to be removed, or you have a sinus infections which needs antibiotics. ...
