My tooth still hurt after my adjustment, my whole right side does. It's in pain off and on and especially when I wake up.

I got my adjustment done yesterday for my crown.I didn't need root canal but it was close to the nerve. But still hurts alot off and on but especially when I wake up? Is this normal and when will pain go away?

Hello there,It's not uncommon to experience some discomfort after having a crown placed.  If the prep was close to your nerve, you may experience sensitivity for a few weeks.  Now that you've had an adjustment, I would recommend allowing two weeks for your tooth to heal.  If the issue persists after two weeks, root canal treatment may be necessary.  Good luck and I hope this helps. When peopple get a crown adjustment pain is normal during 15 days more or less. If it hurts more to awaken sleeping you may clench your teeth without realizing it. If you continue to the pain i recommended you go to your dentist because you probably will need a root canal.

It does take some time for the tooth to heal from the trauma of the procedure and the post-operative trauma from the bite being off in your case. I would recommend giving it a few weeks for healing process. If you do not see any improvement in a few weeks, then you should follow up with your dentist to see there is any signs of nerve inflammation, which might necessitate root canal therapy. Hope you feel better.
