Lab tech told me at color match that once he makes the crowns and they are done, he can make darker but not lighten. Well I got the crowns and they are too dark. Dentist said he spoke to lab tech and he can lighten them. I'm confused why he told me he could not when I first met him. Should I trust?

If your existing crown is leaking and has recurrent decay you will need to have a new one placed. There is no chance of saving the other one. $700 is really inexpensive for a crown so consider it a great deal. Good luck.

Best material would be a Zirconia crown like Bruzxir or a Prismatic Zirconia crown ( zirconia crown with porcelain overlay). Zirconia is more opaque than porcelain and hence will cover the greyish shade from the metal posts.
