Hello. When I search for before and after images I often see that breast implants cause the breast to look overly rounded (in my opinion) from the side, causing the nipples to point straight forward instead of slightly up like they did before the augmentation. Is there a way to avoid this? I have attached example images of what I imagine a modest size increase should look like vs what I’m seeing a lot of in photos.
Answer: Nipple position When implants are placed they settle behind the nipple at the level of the fold. The nipple position is not typically impacted much unless specifically addressed during surgery. Another consideration that can influence the final look is profile. A higher profile implant placed above the muscle will give a different look than a lower profile implant placed beneath the muscle. The best way to find what is best for you is to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation.

Answer: Nipple position and implants It is a bit difficult to tell based on the provided pictures, but hopefully this description helps. The nipple points forward because implants place pressure on skin of the breast above the nipple, rounding out the "upper pole." This rounding of the upper pole raises the upper part of the nipple causing it to point forward. Many times, this will at least slightly correct itself over time as the implant falls down into position more directly behind the nipple. This process of downward migration of the implant will take at least 3 months, but the implants will continue to "settle" for up to one year. I would consider this when looking at before and after photos to choose what style of implants to use.

Answer: Breasts Based on your photos, it appears that you prefer sagging breasts. The nipple should be placed at the middle of the fullest part of the breast, not at the upper part. You can just have implants and avoid a lift.

Answer: BA candidate Dear belle92, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals. Answer: There are options You can certainly maintain the slightly upward rotation of the nipple with a breast augmentation. However, it may take a while after healing from you breast implant surgery before the implant "settles" and you achieve the look you're hoping for. There are a wide variety of implant styles and sizes that may be right for you, but you may also want to look into fat transfer to the breasts.
