I recently had a revision chin implant performed. When my PS removed the implant, he found a large amount of bone resorption - 5/6 mm. The 1st implant was placed too high & he had to fill the deformity behind it with the new implant. I am so worried about my lack of options. I can remove this implant and then have a recessed chin as well as a large deformity from bone erosion. Or, I can keep this implant in, that looks "off" and risk more bone erosion. What needs to be done so it can be placed properly & what caused so much bone resorption? Any advice on my options is appreciated.

There are so many styles and sizes of chin implants, but I find examining the patient in person is the best way to determine which implant is best. You definitely could remove your current implant and replace it with a smaller one, but you and your surgeon need to decide on which implant would ...
One of the interesting features of chin implants versus genioplasty is that they tend to build slightly the labiomental crease. In your situation the crease has modest visibility and I believe that the advice you have received is correct and a chin implant would be a suitable approach.
