New to Invisalign. Trays dont cover the whole of my teeth? (photo)

Question

My are trays suppose to cover the whole of my upper teeth? There is a gap between the top of my retainer and where the tooth meets the gum line. Dentist said its normal, but the lowers meet the gums perfectly. Also they are so painful, it hasnt been a full 24hrs yet. But is this normal?

Invisalign trays should fit intimately with the teeth without any gaps.  Sometimes, when the tray does not fit completely then with time it will seat.  Using a cotton roll or Chewies can help to seat the tray.  Your dentist will decide if the gap is acceptable or not.  If too many trays go by with the gap then it is better to have new impressions taken for new aligners to be made.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Give it time, your teeth need to respond to pressure and loosen up.  Tight teeth do not move....yet! Biting on something like "chewies" that your dentist can provide you will seat the aligners sooner and get the ball rolling.  If your teeth are sore, you can take Tylenol products if you are not allergic/etc but avoid NSAIDS as they can slow tooth movement.
