20 yo chinless girl wants a chin implant, The pic photoshopped is the result i want, so the implant should be what kind of size? Besides, what are advantages and disavantages of silicon implant? Thanks Shailie
Answer: Chin Implant The primary advantage of silicon implants lay in the fact that they are easy to remove as they do not bio-integrate. However, such lack of integration with the biological tissue makes them more susceptible to infection compared to integratable alternatives.

Answer: What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Chin implant? Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation #weakchin #chinimplant

Answer: Silicone implants Silicone implants are safe and easy to place with minimal recovery. They are permanent, yet can easily be removed. Occasionally you can get an infection in the immediate post-surgical period but this can be treated any number of ways. I don't see any significant disadvantages with silicone implants.

Answer: Silicone chin implants Silicone implants are most frequently used implants for chin augmentation. That generally means that they are safest, most versatile by means of shape and size, easiest to apply and much easier to remove. The fact that probably 90% of surgeons are using silicone implants for chin augmentation tells the story of their safety and versatility. Other implants that we use for body contouring (breast, pectoral, calf) are also silicone made. You can safely proceed with your planned chin augmentation using silicone implant. Good luck.

Answer: Chinless girl in search of a chin I thin that the result that you are looking for is very realistic. Thank you for the photos. The two options for chin augmentation are 1) a chin implant and 2) genioplasty. Chin augmentation is a relatively quick procedure that is safe and with minimal risk to increase chin projection. There are a variety of different chin implants, but the silicone implant tends to be the most popular because of the ease of placement and low complication rate. The disadvantage is that this is not great in a case when you need to add vertical height to the face and you have a foreign body in your face (that is well tolerated by most). Genioplasty is a procedure in which the actual chin bone segment is cut and moved forward, then secured with a permanent plate and screws. There is more versatility to this procedure since you can also create a more natural appearing increase in vertical height to the face. However, this is a longer, more expensive procedure and there is additional surgical risk to the tooth roots and to nerves that can cause chin numbness. A silicone implant should do the trick for your case.
