I am undergoing CO2 fractional laser treatment for acne scars . The laser is never applied on eyelid areas. The doctor has suggested me to undergo blepharoplasty to reduce excess skin on my upper eyelids. If I opt for the procedure can I continue with my laser resurfacing schedule afterwards..?
Answer: It is best to wait at least 4-6 weeks to do any other laser treatment to the area Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Co2 laser resurfacing Hello, and thank you for your question. It is not uncommon in our practice to treat patients with a CO2 laser following facial rejuvenation procedures. The patient's need to be well on their way of healing without problems before we will consider the laser. We have treated the upper and lower eyelids with excellent results. I would recommend she seek out a qualified practitioner in your area with expertise on these procedures. Best of luck.

Answer: Bleph and CO2 If the CO2 is not going to be done on your upper lids, then you should not have any problem doing both procedures close together. However, CO2 can be done on the upper and lower lids up to the lash lines and can be a great procedure to combine with a blepharoplasty. The timing would need to be discussed with your surgeon. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Fractional CO2 laser treatment after blepharoplasty Thank you for your question Mjoshi. Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is an outstanding treatment that can address multiple aspects of aging in a single treatment. If I had a patient with recent blepharoplasty I would have her discuss fractional CO2 laser treatment with her surgeon to make sure it is ok. It is important that the skin is fully healed before another treatment on the surrounding areas. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Answer: CO2 Laser After Blepharoplasty CO2 fractional laser resurfacing is an excellent adjunct procedure after blepharoplasty and can be extremely helpful to eliminate fine line wrinkles which are not always removed by blepharoplasty. Your Physician can advise you about timing of this but it would not interfere with your acne scar treatments.
