The period of the first two weeks following your hair transplant procedure is the time period when the wounds on your scalp are healing. So at the point of 20 days, which is nearly three weeks, you can shampoo your head as you normally would. If you are noticing that your hair is shedding, this is normal, believe it or not. The hair that was present during the time of your surgery needs to fall out due to the fact that new hair is getting ready to surface. In most cases, patients will notice new forms of growth starting to emerge more prominently around the third to fourth month following their procedure. If you are interested in learning more about the general timeline of events following a hair transplant procedure, I’ve included an article in the link below which will help give you a bird’s eye view of what to expect.
The first two week after surgery is the period that you are recommended to treat your recipient area with care. However, it's been 20 days so far, you can massage your hair without a problem. The hair shedding during this time is normal too. These fallen hair will regrow in the next 3-4 months.
Hello, Thank you for your question.Washing is one of the important part of HT aftercare. Patients are free to gently massage the transplanted area, with finger tips only, 10 days after the surgery, during the washing procedure. Thats the time when the scabs/ crafts start to fall off. Some of the scabs might have the hair attach, some of the hair falls later without scabs, there is nothing to worry about, your surgeons office should have told you about the shedding process.
Hello, good question. Shedding of the grafts is very common and normal so don’t worry about that. As far as shampooing, you can wash as you did before your procedure.
At 20 days your transplanted hair is embedded in your scalp now. Any crust or scabbing should have already been washed away. The shedding is normal from your transplanted hairs. Often they shed around 30 days post-op. You can then expect them to lay dormant for a further two months or so before your growth starting. In respect of washing most can return to their normal shampoo regime but if you have concerns regarding your skin condition you should contact your Doctor.
