What are the risks of getting a second hair transplant?

I got a transplant in Turkey last year. I was a norwood 3v. Doctor only put in 1500 grafts with average density of 33 grafts/cm^2. The results are 7/10. I am not completely happy. I am thinking of doing a second transplant to increase density and also lower hairline further. Will a second hair transplant damage the grafts from my first hair transplant? Are there risks to increasing density with a second hair transplant?

In and of itself there is nothing risky about doing multiple HT’s it just depends upon what you want accomplished and what was done before. Since there are no photos included it is difficult to comment on your particular situation but in general density can be increased and a hairline lowered,within reason.

Thank you for your question. A second hair transplant is possible since you had 1500 grafts transplanted in the first surgery. To define the possibility of the second hair transplant, it will prefered to analyze the pictures of the donor area and the recipient area.

Hello. Typically there aren’t risks in having a second transplant. It’s best you are seen by a surgeon to determine what you had done the first time around and what you need, if anything, the second time around. Good luck to you.

There are many aspects to consider. Your age, and your donor hair management are two. 1500 grafts is not too many but it depends on the quality of your donor area today. To consider lowering a hairline is a big step over the hairline already created. More hair is required and this only takes away from your finite donor supply. Looking at your long term hair loss pattern is vital to not use too many grafts in a relatively small area. Your questions can only be properly answered with a full assessment of your situation. Maybe in person is best.
