After 6 months of hair transplantation: I'm not happy with the result. Had 5500 grafts. Thoughts? (photos)

Six months after a transplantation not all of the new hairs have begun to grow.  During the first three months three quarters of the transplanted hairs will fall out.  This is most noticeable soon after the surgery.  The new hairs don't start to grow until the fourth month.  Each month thereafter more new hairs will grow.  This will continue until the 12th to the 15th month.  That is when all of the transplanted hairs that are going to grow will be growing.  So at six months I feel that it is too early to make a judgement on what the final result will be.  But if you do have concerns it would be best to go back to the surgeon who performed the procedure to discuss it further.

Im not sure what the Before situation looked like but it seems to me that you don't have a density for 5500 hair grafts to be honest. so Im not sure if that's the right number? how does the back of your scalp look like after they took 5500 hair from your back? and certainly the front doesn't look like its filled with 5500 hair grafts. I only do Robotics Areas iX where the robot keeps count of each and every hair graft and does the implantation as well. so there is predictability and accuracy in the data reporting. not sure what happened here?

That is a large area to be covered. It would be helpful if you could tell us the number of grafts used to cover that area, and then we could give you some guidance about growth and what to expect.

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are very disappointed in your results. You should be seeing a lot of new growth by now with most of it growing in by 8-12 months. I suggest making an appointment with he doctor who performed the transplant and see what can be done. Good luck to you.

You have waited a long time to see the results and aren't in love. Granted some of your issues can be addressed wtih a different hairstyle, it appears that your hairline isn't very natural in appearance. The patchiness is an issue but without knowing how many grafts you had and what the before situation was, one can't comment on that. I would start by discussing with your doctor then seek out a consultation or two. I think starting hair vitamins and PRP might help thicken the hair and allow it to grow out a bit.
