Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best,Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon
PRP is one of those therapies that has gained some traction with some doctors while others still find it not a very useful thing. Many non-core doctors use it and many dermatologists and plastic surgeons are still trying to make sense of it as an adjunctive therapy. There was a recent report that using PRP around the tear trough areas of the eyes and wrinkles under the eyes caused a significant improvement. Would this hold up to other cosmetic procedures? We do not know yet. Most of us would recommend a neurotoxin — Botox, Dysport or Xeomin — and a good skin care routine. If there is a tear trough issue, a filler such as Restylane, Belotero or Juvederm can be injected.Find a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon and have the proper consultation.
The answer here is simple, but also a bit complicated. Yes, I love to work with my patients with PRP, a concentrate of your own body’s plasma enriched with platelets, but I believe that PRP doesn’t fill. It does create a better quality of skin, where texture and lines improve through a series of three to four injections, one to two months apart.
I have not seen one study in a peer reviewed medical journal that proves PRP is effective in doing any thing other than make money for the doctor
PRP has not been shown to be effective in controlled clinical studies published in peer reviewed journals.Laser resurfacing is the gold standard for removal of surface wrinkles. Botox is effective for frown lines and crows feet, and dermal fillers have also been shown to be very effective. Please consult a board certified plastic surgeon.
