Was on Protinex supplement and chest grew bigger. Doctor now giving me medication to dissolve far. Advice?

I m facing problem with chest. I ws on protinex supplement frm this August 2013, I hv taken 4 boxes of 400gm each till Nov. I stopped it in Nov bcz I found that my lower chest has grown bigger. In Dec I hv started to feel little pain on my both sides of chest. I hv consulted to a doctor, he told me that it is a reaction of that high protein content(protinex) and run me on some test like C.B.C My reports r normal...nw he is giving me some medicines to dissolve that extra fat...suggestions plz

Dear Gaga101,    Proteinex is  nutritional suppliment containing protein, vitamins and minerals. as such there is no content which have specific direct effect to increase the size of chest called gynaecomastia.  which is a benign condition.  Gynaecomastia is corectable with s daycare surgery. in Mumbai india it is the most common surgery in male to boost  confidance

Hi gaga101,Thanks for the post. Protinex is a supplement containing protein vitamins and minerals. I don't know of any connection between protinex and gynecomastia.  That being said, the body only needs so much protein to build muscle. Taking excess protein can have certain detrimental effects such as:1. Increased fat- if not exercising sufficiently to account for the excess calories the protein is providing2. Increased risk of kidney damage3. Bone loss4. DehydrationEverything in moderation. For protein you can reduce the risk of these side effects by not taking more than 1gm protein/kg body weight, exercising, and drinking plenty of fluids.SIncerely,Dr. Dadvand
