Hi Marissa1154, Yes, it is completely safe to get pregnant after breast augmentation surgery. However, it is ideal to allow your body time to heal to ensure that your body has healed and recovered well from the procedures performed. Dear Marssa,Thank you for sharing your Question,It is safe to become pregnant after Breast Augmentation Surgery, at the same time it is also advisable to recover and give your self time to heal. You may wish to wait 4-6 weeks as you have to be mindful of of the Healing process, ie swelling post operatively, and to minimise any activity around the Incision site, keeping the risk of any Infection down. You will still be able to breast feed should you wish to as well. Thanks and Best Wishes
I recommend my patients wait at least 6 months before getting pregnant after surgery to allow the breasts to heal, settle, shape. At 6 months you will be about 90 percent dropped and fluffed.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
Thank you for your question. Yes you can and its safe. Breast implants do not have any affect on pregnancy and if done by a skilled plastic surgeon to not cause changes to breast feeding capabilities. Breast Lift with augmentation is a very powerful technique in the right hands. Most important is a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon regarding this procedure. Don’t settle for less!
It is certainly safe, as many women have become pregnant after breast augmentation surgery. However pregnancy and breast-feeding will likely cause changes to your breasts that can affect their appearance. Surgical revisions are often done after patients are finished having children. If you are already pregnant, don’t let this be a cause for concern. Have your baby and address any breast issues down the road. Best wishes to you.
It's safe, but it will likely affect your results. If you are planning to have children soon it is generally advisable to wait until after you are done having kids/breastfeeding before having an aesthetic breast procedure so you get the most longevity out of it.
Hello,It’s best to wait 3-6 Months after surgery so all the medications are out of your system. Your breasts will still go through some healing changes/swelling for up to one year following Surgery. Keep in mind , your breasts will change during and after pregnancy. Tissues change and skin can become saggy. Best wishes!
Thank you and good question. I usually suggest at least 6 months after surgery this way the breasts have time to settle. Also you will have had ample time to no longer be on any meds and they should have exited your system.Be aware that pregnancy can change the body. Weight gain and breast feeding can change the shape and look of your breasts.Good luck and all the best.
Yes you can. Healing following a breast augmentation and lift actually goes on for almost a year, but the vast majority of the healing occurs in the first 4-6 weeks after the surgery. Once you become pregnant, there will be changes in your breasts, but it's not instantaneous. So, as the healing progresses, and the changes in your breasts from the pregnancy progresses, you'll be fine. One important thing to keep in mind, and something you should have discussed with your plastic surgeon prior to the surgery, is that you may lose some of the benefits of the lift and augmentation as a result of the pregnancy related breast changes. In other words, you may need an additional lift after the baby is born and you finish breast feeding due to the stretching of the skin and changes in the breast tissue that come with breast enlargement and engorgement. One thing to also keep in mind - mastitis, which is an inflammation of the breast gland, is often seen in pregnancy. In my experience, the risk of mastitis is somewhat higher in women who've recently had breast surgery and then become pregnant.
Marissa,Thanks for the question. You may get pregnant as soon as you are no longer taking any medications. I would wait at least 3 months to allow the breasts to settle somewhat prior to getting pregnant. The breasts will certainly change with pregnancy as well as breast feeding.Good luck with starting a family.Dr T
Fortunately, this complication is uncommon. You should make sure you are not smoking or using nicotine or marijuana products prior to surgery. If you are diabetic, your sugars should be well controlled. If you have had prior breast surgery, you should give your surgeon the records of the prio...
Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and...
