Hi! So I have a chubby round-ish face, my mother also has it, and a weak chin. My mother is now 55 and almost has no wrinkles, but has jowls, that’s bothering her. I am working as a model, and having a more angular face would benefit me for my work. But I don’t want it to age badly. Will getting buccal fat removal at 25 make my jowls worse in the future, or will it make that place less saggy? Also, does a chin implant help that? Sorry for asking so many questions.

Hello, hope you are well. These are great questions! Generally speaking, removing buccal fat will not pre-dispose you to jowling in the future. Jowling is caused by laxity of the facial soft tissue envelope which is really independent from buccal fat volume. It can help substantially improve the definition of the lower facial features (cheek convexity and jawline). You are not excluded from buccal fat removal based on your age, but you would still need a proper physical exam to make sure that there are no other potential reasons for why you would want to avoid the surgery. A chin implant can help with jawline definition, and neck contour, in addition to balancing your profile.

I don't think that buccal fat removal will make jowls worse in the future. Jowls will form based on your genetics, lifestyle, and skin care.  Buccal fat removal will make you look more angular, and the volume can easily be replaced with fat or a filler if necessary at any time.  Chin implants, when necessary, are great at improving the jawline!  Both can be done at the same time right in the office.
