I've had a skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa in the groin since I was 6 years old. Can I have breast implants?

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a painful, long-term skin condition that causes abscesses and scarring on the skin... Last year I had l a Sebaceous cyst removed and it got infected and turned into abscess and reopened my stitches, took a long time to heal. Will this effect my chances of breast implant? I get the feeling I may not heal well. What are the risks? Anyone help? Thank you

Dear Jadey,    If you do not have hidradenitis suppurativa  of your breasts area, you are ok to have breasts augmentation. You have to make sure , though, that you do not have active infection of the involved area, in order to avoid infection of your breasts implants. Also, once you had your breasts augmentation with implants, make sure to take the appropriate antibiotics, when ever there is a flare up of infection in your groin.   Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice cleavage, perky, symmetrical and natural looking.                             Best of luck,                                                     Dr Widder

As long as your HA is not active and does not involve your breasts, you should be fine.
Make sure you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon and avoid any incisions in your axilla.
