What procedure for weak jawline? (Photo)

Question

I had 2 different surgeons provide me with an idea of what a chin implant would look like and both don’t give me results like I want. They just seem to add chin volume and do nothing about my actual concern being a weak jawline and jowls. What procedure would you recommend for a better side profile? I attached my side profile, front profile as well as the vector and doctored image from the 2 offices I spoke to.

Thank you for your question and for providing photos. Chin augmentation is an excellent option for improving the appearance of a weak or recessed chin. With a custom-fit chin implant, the side profile can be improved and the facial proportions brought into balance.
Silicone implants are a preferred choice as they can be easily customized to fully address all of the chin and jawline features you’d like to improve. They can also be removed easily if you change your mind in the future. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon who can assess your aesthetic goals. They’ll be able to provide a thorough explanation of how the appearance of the entire jawline can be altered, rather than just a forward projection.

If you want to improve the contour and definition of your chin and jawline, then I would suggest custom chin and jawline implants. This would give you the most definition and improve the angle of the jaw and the jowl area.

The "jowls" that you are referring to are more related to the significant pre-Jowl sulcus just in front of them which is very hollow. A properly sized chin implant can accomplish augmenting that area to give you a nice augmentation of your mandible bone. It's important to understand that placement of a chin implant augments the mandible bone in three dimensions. Most of that augmentation occurs in the forward projection. There's also a moderate amount of improvement in the width and the small amount of vertical height. In our practice for over 25 years, we Place chin implants under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes approximately 30 minutes. General anesthesia is not required.

As you have learned a chin implant improves the anterior projection of the jawline but will not change anything behind it. What you are looking for a total jawline augmentation effect which can only be achieved by a custom jawline implant which has unique design features that are different from that of men.

Your lower jaw is underdeveloped. Your first image shows the narrowness and the side views show the weaker profile. You are quite correct that you cannot just focus on the 'front' of the jaw but should consider jawline augmentation from the angles to the chin to get a more defined jawline in 3 dimensions.
