Kybella. How many vials do I need? (Photo)

Hello, I'm considering to do kybella since I want a defined jawline, I don't have big double chin however I'm wondering if I would see results after one vial only? And if not how many vials do I need from the pics ?

Kybella uses injections of deoxycholic acid to melt submental fat. Each injection point should be treated with at least 2 mg for the therapy to be effective. I have also noticed a slight skin contraction effect with Kybella that may help you achieve your more defined jawline. I would recommend starting with a minimum of two vials. You don’t seem to have a lot of submental fat — in fact I’d need to check to see if you have fat at all or just excess skin. You may get the change you need with just one treatment. Most patients, however, need at least two or three treatments of two to four vials, spaced about 2 to 3 months apart. It takes about 12-18 weeks for your body to clear the debris of the destructed cells and for your final results to become apparent. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will allow you to be evaluated for Kybella or another effective method to remove your submental fat, such as CoolMini or micro liposculpture.

I think it depends on your clinical response to the first treatment and re evaluation in 4-6 weeks.  You will get differing opinions on this forum 1-3 vials etc.  The best is see a provider where you live and have an in office consultation.

Kybella is meant to dissolve fat under the chin. Once your doctor has examined you, she/he will determine if the treatment is appropriate based on your anatomy.  Additionally they will determine how many mL of the medicine  and how many sessions are needed to treat the fat.

You have mild lipodystrophy.  I'd suggest doing single vial treatment spaced 6 weeks apart until you are happy with the result.  My best guess would be 3 vials based on your photos.

Keep in mind, you will need a series of treatments and a combination approach to get good results with Kybella.  I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. You probably need 2 vials.  However, that is per service.  Most patients getting Kybella need up to 6 treatments and at the end of 6 treatments at one month intervals, 40% of patients are dissatisfied with the treatment results.  That is a very expensive service with a remarkably low satisfaction rate.  I agree that neck liposuction, a minimally invasive procedure, is much more reliable.

Dear hahsjhshs,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office.  I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

kybella is a wonderful treatment to permanently dissolve the under chin fat area. It appears that you would need two vials per treatment and a minimum of three treatments. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for the question.  An in person consultation would be needed to determine the amount of Kybella.  From wha t I can  see probably 2 to 3 syringes the first treatment and then check the response in 6 to 8 weeks.  A second (lesser amount) may be needed to achieve maximum results.

Each Kybella vial treats 10 "dots" on the grid that are each 1 cm apart.  The temporary tattoo treatment grid that is placed on the neck has 50 dots, or 5 vials.  The Kybella training initially recommended starting with 2 vials.  We have rapidly found that more vials are better and a typical first treatment would be 3-4 vials to treat enough of an area to get a good improvement.
