Is dental work after lip fillers okay?

Question

I got Restylane Lyft in my lips exactly a week ago and I have a dentist appt for fillings and a crown next week.. will I be okay or should I reschedule? It’s about 2 hrs worth of work so my mouth is gonna be stretched for a while.

I recommend following up with your injector. This should be fine, but it can take up to 2 weeks for swelling to subside after lip fillers. Hope this helps.

I usually recommend that my patients avoid any dental work for 2 weeks prior to and after filler treatment. I believe this reduces risk of infection.

I would definitely wait at least two weeks after your lip injections to have the dental work done.  It is best to wait after the swelling has resolved and after the possibility of infection or more swelling has passed.  Best, Dr. Green

I usually have my patients wait a couple of weeks between dental work and filers in face. Firstly, there is some thought that dental work can seed filler with bacteria and increase risk of infection. Secondly, if I just had fillers done and have dental work right away you are adding insult to some swelling that you might already have and I would like you to be free of any swelling before having dental work. I would say that two weeks is reasonable amount of time between.
