How often can I do microneedling with PRP?

Question

How often Can I do microneedling with PRP? Can I do it monthly or do I space and do every three months? I have heard it last so not waste money and do monthly, however my results were much better with PRP so I would like to keep doing it. I just don’t know if there is a general rule on how often you do it with the PRP? Thanks.

Microneedling wt PRP is recommended every 30 days.  How many treatments depends on what the patient and the practitioner are trying to achieve.  In our office, we recommend they start with 4 treatments spaced a month apart  and then we reevaluate.  Patients are very happy with this procedure and they look forward to returning to our office for another treatment.  Hope this information is helpful.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

The number of procedures required will be determined by your doctor based upon your individual procedure goals and the overall health of your skin. Most patients receive a series of three procedures spaced about four weeks apart. We do microneedling initially every 4 weeks for 4-6 treatments depending on what we are trying to accomplish. Then we recommend maintenance treatments every 4 months. However, you can safely do 8-10 monthly treatments to reach your desired results. Using PRP or growth factors during and  post treatment is a game changer too. Lastly remember that you will continue to get results for 3-6 months post treatments.
