Dr took out my drains@ 5 days because at less the 25cc Had procedure march 24 drains out the 28th. feeling ok but fluid, went2 Dr apr 9 for swelling ,tried to extract the fluid, not pleasant got light headed after.Went to see the Dr pca, my Dr was in surgery &I leave (cruise on sunday) had to be seen pca was incredible got lot of fluid (100cc)as much as she could.how long is fluid going to last? I still feel fluid inside. & my weight is up 6lbs from day after surgery due to swelling& fluid

Great question and I'm sorry this happened; however, it can happen after this surgery so not completely unexpected. A small fluid collection may resolve on it's on by your body absorbing the fluid.  A more sizeable one needs to be drained so it doesn't become a chronic seroma that won't go away.  Sometimes it takes several drainage episodes to help it resolve on it's on, which it likely will if the amount that is removed is decreasing with each extraction.  Best to schedule an appointment with your surgeon for another drainage if you still feel fluid there.  It may take a few weeks for this to resolve. Swelling will improve but fluid (seroma) needs to be treated.  You should returns to your surgeon’s office as frequently as possible to get repeated aspiration.  Eventually, it will go away or they will have to arrange for a drain to be placed.  Thank you and God bless.

Greetings,Sorry to hear that you have had significant fluid present beneath your skin flap after your March 24 tummy tuck.  Clearly, this problem should be cared for ASAP.  This problem cculd be addressed by your plastic surgeon in a number of ways, but delay can increase the risk of an established seroma requiring surgery.... You should call him (her) to be seen, evaluated and treated.Perhaps, a cruise is not the best idea at this time.Best Regards,
