I have a chalazion that I've had for 8 months and another more recent chalazion removed 3 weeks ago. The swelling has dissipated but there is scar tissue on my upper eyelid from the older chalazion. It's not that noticeable but the left side of my eyelid is thicker. It's also uncomfortable and I can definitely feel it. I have dark skin is a kenlog injection still a possibility? Will tobradex drops help with the inflammation? I really want to move on from this.
Answer: Resolving Scar Tissues with Kenalog Injection Hello! Thank you for posting your question! Scar tissues from eyelid surgeries like chalazion removal can be resolved in a couple of ways. Although some scars may resolve on their own, others are just permanent so to either fix that you can go through surgery, where the scar tissue is directly removed from the eyelid or undergo Kenalog injection. Kenalog can even be boosted by massaging a topical steroid on the affected area. I would highly recommend you to discuss about this more with your board certified plastic surgeon so that he or she can do proper evaluation on the scarred tissue as well as provide you with possible options that can resolve the issue better. Make sure to deal with a plastic surgeon who has experience in with Kenalog injections to reduce the occurrence of after effects, if any.

Answer: Injection For patients with darker skin, a mix with 5-FU and a small amount of Kenalog, or even just 5-FU, could help. Surgical removal of scar tissue or the abnormal area of the eyelid would also be an option. I would suggest seeing an oculoplastic surgeon for weighing the best options.
